Biology Lab

Lab Outline

This lab report is about how Tetrahymena, free-living ciliates, are impacted by the amount of salt in the water, specifically their eating. Writing a lab report and a paper for English class are two very different things. For lab reports, it’s better to avoid adjectives and make it to the point, which was easy for me. They’re different because the purpose of reading them is different. For labs, you want to get straight to the point and want to know their results. You also cannot have much of an opinion with lap reports. With an English paper, it’s better to keep the reader engaged and entertained while getting your point across. However, I failed to provide exact measurements for everything and sometimes I was not specific enough. I think this is because I am not used to writing a lot of lab reports, but I think with more practice, I’ll get the hang of it.  Overall, I learned how to write a better lab report, and it was interesting to go from writing papers for English class to write a lab report because of the differences.
